VW redesigns Passat, American-style
The next VW to get a drastic reduction in price is the beloved 2012 Passat.
The new Passat, which aims to be the “go-to” car when shopping for a midsize family sedan, will also be the first car to completely be built at VW’s new $1 billion dollar plant in Chattanooga, TN. It is designed precisely to American specifications, and VW expects to win the US’s heart with its new design and economical price tag.
The new Passat features a 4-wheel indie suspension and multilink rear end. It is front-wheel drive, but 4motion may be added in the future if demand persists. An inline 5-cylinder 2.5 liter engine powers the new Passat and delivers 170HP. Other engine options are available, including a diesel variant.
Standard features are bountiful with BlueTooth and dual-zone climate control. Options include remote start, push start and 18-inch wheels.
