For a long time the U.S., with the exception of the MINI Cooper, has been an afterthought when producing smaller cars. However, when Volkswagen began concept development of the Up!, the U.S. was parked at the forefront of their minds. The 2012 Up! Will offer three body styles: a 2-door hatchback, a 4-door hatchback and a long-wheelbase 4-door wagon.
Production models of the Volkswagen Up! will be shown off at the upcoming Frankfurt auto show and is expected to go on sale in Europe next year, with deliveries occurring in late 2011.
