The 21st Century Beetle launched with great fanfare during 2011. The third model in the lineup, the fuel-efficient TDI Clean Diesel, was revealed during February's Chicago Auto Show. The Beetle TDI boasts 29 MPG in the city and 39 on the highway, according to EPA ratings.
It is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder with direct injection. The engine delivers 140 HP and 236 pound-feet of torque, and can be mated to a 6-speed manual or DSG dual-clutch auto transmission with Tiptronic manual shift capabilities. Outside, the Beetle TDI is distinguished from its gas counterparts with a chrome trim, TDI badging and a set of 17-inch alloys. An extra set of gauges inside display oil temperature and turbo boost.
There are three trim levels within the TDI Beetle category: regular TDI, one with a sunroof and one with sunroof and upgraded sound system and navigation. All three boast power windows, leatherette seats, leather-wrapped multi-function steering, keyless entry, push button start and iPod interface.
With gas prices on the climb, this might very well prove to be the most popular Beetle for Miami VW fans. It arrives in our Miami VW showroom this summer!
