Car and Driver recently reviewed the 2012 VW Passat, and they had plenty of great things to say. The 2012 Passat has been earning quite a few accolades lately from the press, and seemingly adoring public. Motor Trend called it their Car of the Year, while Cars.com gave it a Best of 2012 top honor.
Now, it seems it is Car and Driver's turn to dish out the compliments after a thorough road test. The results? By stretching the Passat's wheelbase, VW has created one of the roomiest, if not the most dramatic-looking sedans in the class. And despite a significant price cut, the Passat's interior does not feel cheap, says Car and Driver editor.
Our seat time was limited to TDI and 2.5 models, both equipped with two-pedal transmissions, 17-inch rubber, and top-zoot SEL trim. Each sucked up Tennessee's undulating pavement with ease, he continues, The chassis is otherwise buttoned down and nimble... The brakes are predictable and linear in feel, and though the pedal gains a bit of travel under hard use, performance never seems to suffer.
They were also impressed that it is 100% built by and designed for Americans, pleased with the level of refinement and impressed by the significant price cut over the last generation model.
